Germany’s drone detection system will be operational at Stuttgart and Hamburg airports from 5 October and will be added at Leipzig/Galle this week.

The programme will cover eight of the country’s largest civil passenger airports, with seven of the eight being equipped now while Berlin‑Brandenburg already has a system, and the remaining DFS‑controlled airports slated for installation by the end of January 2027.

Why it matters

The system will allow early detection of potential drone threats, enhancing safety for airlines and airports.
