JR East test car M10 hits 500 km/h on Chuo Shinkansen test line

- JR East continued testing its L0 series improved type test car, designated M10, on the Chuo Shinkansen line and recorded a speed of 500 km/h on September 28. The test section in Yamanashi, formerly called the Yamanashi Linear Experiment Line, has been renamed the Yamanashi Line. The line is intended to support the future Tokyo‑Nagoya service that will take 40 minutes, with a later extension to Osaka.
- M10 is being used to develop low‑cost, comfortable operation and improved maintenance efficiency for eventual commercial service on the high‑speed line.
