Pune Customs, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and the Air Intelligence Unit seized 1.243 kg of suspected cannabis extract from three branded cosmetic jars at Pune International Airport on the evening of 1 October 2026. The jars were labelled “Rice and Yolk Hair Treatment” (two jars) and “Body Scrub” (one jar). A preliminary test using a Narcotic Drug Field Testing Kit returned a positive result for cannabis.
The substance was estimated to be worth around ₹1 crore and was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Passenger and flight
The contraband was found in the checked baggage of a woman passenger arriving from Bangkok on Air India Express flight IX‑241. The passenger was arrested following the seizure.
