Vilnius Airport was temporarily closed after an unknown object entered the airspace above the airport. The closure lasted less than an hour before operations resumed when the warning was cancelled.
NATO Response
NATO air‑policing fighter jets were scrambled and launched in response to the alert. The National Crisis Management Center activated an emergency response and dispatched the jets after the object was detected.
Flight Impact
Twelve flights were affected at Vilnius Airport: one flight was diverted to Kaunas, three flights were cancelled and eight flights were delayed.
Public Advisory
Authorities advised residents in the Vilnius region to seek shelter or refuge during the incident.
