- The German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Fraunhofer Society and the IHP Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics have started construction of a new research campus in Cottbus, Germany, on a 50,000‑square‑metre site that is slated for completion by 2030.
- Funding comes from the Federal Government’s Investment Act for Coal Regions together with contributions from the State of Brandenburg, and the campus will host DLR’s Institute for Electrified Aircraft Propulsion, which develops hybrid‑electric and all‑electric aircraft systems, as well as its Institute for CO2‑Neutral Industrial Processes focused on industrial decarbonisation, supporting structural change in the Lausitz region after coal exit.
