Passenger aircraft being moved to a playground gets stuck under DN1 bridge near Balotești

A de‑commissioned passenger aircraft being hauled from Otopeni Airport to Voluntari was stuck under a bridge on DN1 near Balotești during the night of 9 October, after failing to clear the CFR bridge at kilometre 16+500.

The 60‑tonne transport vehicle, 38 m long, 6.60 m wide and 4.80 m high, had the aircraft’s wings removed for the move and was escorted by authorized vehicles and road police; a traffic lane was blocked until the aircraft could be shifted to a parking area, and authorities plan to attempt another move after modifying the transport equipment.
