Dortmund Airport reported handling about 1.01 million passengers in the third quarter of 2026, a 5.9% increase over the same period last year.

Wizz Air contributed roughly a 13% increase in passenger traffic for the quarter. August 2026 recorded over 360,000 passengers, making it the busiest month of the quarter and the year so far. From January to September 2026 the airport counted more than 2.62 million passengers, an increase of about 179,000 compared with the previous year. The airport is expanding its route network with eight new destinations this year, including Milan, Palermo and London, and will add Rome from 25 October.

Managing director Ludger van Bebber said the numbers show a continued positive development and that the airport is on track to welcome more passengers this year than last year.
