Virgin Atlantic will introduce the Airbus A350‑1000 on its daily Johannesburg‑London Heathrow route starting 25 October.

From 13 December the airline will add three weekly flights, raising the route’s total to ten flights a week, with the extra services operated by Boeing 787‑9 aircraft on flights VS461 (Heathrow on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) and VS462 (Johannesburg on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).

Why it matters

The expanded schedule provides more capacity during South Africa’s summer and festive travel period.
