Passenger Roy Van der Meer has sued Qantas, alleging he slipped on wet stairs at Sydney Airport on 7 December 2024.

Qantas says security camera footage shows the stairs were covered by a canopy and that a marshaller saw Van der Meer lose control of his luggage, adding that his injuries were wholly caused or contributed to by his own actions; the case is before the NSW District Court and will return on 28 October.
