The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is calling on its member states to renew their commitment to CORSIA, the global system for compensating and reducing commercial aviation CO2 emissions.

CORSIA, approved by the ICAO Assembly on 6 October 2016, was the first market‑based measure adopted by an economic sector to address emissions, and a total of 130 states are participating in its first voluntary phase in 2026; the volume of SAF and other low‑carbon fuels certified under the scheme has more than doubled in the last two years.
