AirBaltic announced it will reduce between 500 and 700 positions at its Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn bases and has informed the Agency for Employment of Latvia that a collective dismissal procedure will start, while saying its published flight schedule will remain unchanged and all services will continue as normal.

The airline voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 protection in the United States on 14 September, secured commitments for €350 million of debtor‑in‑possession financing and received an immediate first tranche of €140 million from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, while its new business plan calls for a smaller fleet of Airbus A220‑300 aircraft and expanded ACMI agreements throughout the year.
