Hong Kong Customs detected a drug trafficking case involving baggage concealment at Hong Kong International Airport on October 6, seizing about 6 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds with an estimated market value of about $1.1 million and arresting two men – a 43‑year‑old Mainland male passenger from Manila and a 52‑year‑old Mainland male passenger from Bangkok.

The Manila passenger was found with the cannabis buds in his carry‑on suitcase, while the Bangkok passenger was found with 88 sticks of duty‑not‑paid cigarettes in his carry‑on baggage; the two are jointly charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug, and the second man also faces charges of possession of dutiable goods and failing to declare to a Customs officer, with the case scheduled for the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on October 8.
