Tropic Air announced on September 30 that it will shut its Punta Gorda base on November 1, citing the current economic context and uncertainty over proposed domestic aviation infrastructure changes, and Toledo will have no scheduled air link after the closure.

The Belize Airports Authority noted that a BZD 10 security charge per passenger departing a municipal airport was announced by the cabinet on August 5, adding to the BZD 6 fee already included in domestic tickets since 2011, and said passenger screening at municipal aerodromes was strengthened after a Tropic Air Cessna Caravan carrying 15 people was hijacked on April 17 2025; the local chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association called an emergency meeting following the announcement.
