The ultralight aircraft attempted to take off from Abel Island Airport, struck power lines and nosedived onto the roof of a large home on Abel Island in rural Guttenberg, Iowa, on Saturday before 6 p.m.

The pilot, 75‑year‑old Gary Fisher of Monticello, was the sole occupant and sustained minor injuries; no one inside the home was injured.

Investigation

The crash is being investigated by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
