Mumbai airport’s 33% international flight shift to Navi Mumbai deferred

Airlines were asked to cut or discontinue 33% of their international flights to Navi Mumbai by Oct 25, a request made by AAHL and reiterated by Adani Airport Holdings, while the civil aviation ministry urged a delay to the proposed partial shift of international services from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai.

IATA backed airlines against the unilateral capacity reduction, saying any changes must allow sufficient time for transition arrangements, and the ministry asked Adani Airports to defer the planned transfer of more than a third of Mumbai’s international departures.

The ministry later instructed Mumbai International Airport Ltd to postpone the proposed 33% reduction in Terminal 2 international operations from Oct 26, and also asked the airport to defer moving 265 of its 770 weekly international departures to Navi Mumbai.
