Gulf Air performed an aerial display over the Sepang International Circuit during the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, marking the first time a Gulf Air aircraft flew over a Formula One race outside Bahrain and using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

More than 100,000 spectators watched the air show at the arena, which was also broadcast to millions worldwide, while the airline welcomed over 35,000 visitors to its Gulf Air Fan Zone and launched direct flights between Bahrain and Kuala Lumpur shortly before the event.

Why it matters

The display was supported by the purchase of Sustainable Aviation Fuel to reduce carbon emissions, highlighting Gulf Air’s environmental initiative for airlines.
