Petition to rename
Mila Seidl, the widow of Lito Sousa, supported a petition to rename the International Airport of São Paulo/Guarulhos after him. The petition proposes the terminal name “Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo/Guarulhos – Lito Sousa” or “Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo/Guarulhos – Joselito Geraldo de Sousa”. It was sent to the National Congress, the Ministry of Ports and Airports, ANAC, the city of Guarulhos and the GRU Airport concessionaire.
Legislative proposals
Deputy Duda Salabert (PSOL‑MG) filed bill 5515/2026 in the Chamber of Deputies on Friday 2 October 2026 to rename the airport to “Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo/Guarulhos – Lito Sousa”, replacing the current name “Aeroporto Internacional de Guarulhos – Governador André Franco Montoro”.
A Senate proposal to rename the airport to “Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo/Guarulhos – Joselito Geraldo de Sousa” recorded 3,534 expressions of support on the Senate platform as of Saturday 2 October 2026, according to a post shared by Mila Seidl.
