Turkey’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and Germany’s Cologne Bonn Airport have formalised a ‘Sister Airports’ partnership. The pact covers joint work on operations, digitalisation, safety, sustainability and passenger experience.

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport and Cologne Bonn Airport signed a Sister Airports agreement. The agreement was signed by Turkey’s HEAŞ and ISG and Germany’s Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. It aims to strengthen information and experience sharing, mutual evaluation of international practices and increase operational efficiency. Joint research on future airport technologies and cooperation in areas such as digitalisation, aviation safety, sustainability, ARFF services and passenger experience are included. Sabiha Gökçen serves about 48.4 million passengers and over 275 000 flights in 2025, while Cologne Bonn handles over 10 million passengers and 840 000 tons of cargo. Sharing best practices in runway, apron and ARFF operations can improve operational efficiency for both airports. Collaboration on digitalisation and future airport technologies may enhance passenger experience and support revenue‑generating services. Joint safety and sustainability initiatives align with regulatory expectations and can reduce operational costs.
