- KLM received its first Airbus A350‑900, registration PH‑ZNA and named De Nachtwacht, and will launch the aircraft on the Amsterdam‑Toronto service on 30 October.
- The new A350‑900 carries 331 seats – 34 World Business Class, 26 Premium Comfort and 271 Economy – and can fly up to 18,000 km, delivering about a 25 % cut in fuel use, operating costs and CO₂ emissions; it joins 22 A350‑900s ordered by the Air France‑KLM group and will also be used on routes to Montreal‑Trudeau and East African destinations such as Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar and Nairobi.
Why it matters
The aircraft’s lower fuel burn and operating costs improve the airline’s cost structure while the added capacity supports network expansion to long‑haul and African markets.
