GPS interference testing scheduled at multiple U.S. sites in October

The FAA has announced GPS interference testing at several locations, including Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona; Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii; White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico; and Marine Corps Air Station California in Frink, California. Pilots are instructed to monitor NOTAMs, which will be issued at least 72 hours before each event.

GPS interference testing will be conducted at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona from 5 to 15 October. Marine Aviation Weapons Tactics Squadron One will conduct GPS interference testing in Yuma, Arizona on 6 October. GPS interference testing will take place at Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii from 5 to 15 October. GPS interference testing will be conducted at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico from 6 to 30 October. GPS interference testing will be carried out at Marine Corps Air Station California in Frink, California from 5 to 8 October. NOTAMs for each testing event will be published at least 72 hours in advance and pilots are advised to check them frequently for possible changes. Frequent NOTAM checks are critical for flight operations to avoid navigating into areas with GPS interference.
