Stratolaunch announced on 30 September 2026 that it has acquired a Boeing 777‑200ER to be modified as a launch aircraft for its autonomous Talon‑A hypersonic test vehicle.

The conversion will enable launches from the aircraft’s fuselage, expanding Stratolaunch’s flight‑test capacity by about 35 % and adding a third transport platform that can operate outside the United States, reducing scheduling constraints and allowing regional relocation of launch operations.

Modifications are expected to be completed in 2027, after which the modified 777 will begin supporting Talon‑A missions.
