South African Tourism launches AI assistant Siyanda as Germany gathers 500,000 tourism

- The German National Tourist Board has collected more than 500,000 records on destinations, accommodation and events from tourism bodies across all 16 German states, and South African Tourism has built an AI assistant called Siyanda on Matador Network's GuideGeek platform to create personalised itineraries for US and Canadian travellers.
- Siyanda is trained on extensive data from South African Tourism and integrates over 1,000 travel information sources via GuideGeek's technology, while South Africa was ranked 61st out of 110 economies in the World Economic Forum's Travel & Tourism Development Index 2026, with its score slipping marginally from 3.99 to 3.98 as the overall index average rose by 2.1%.
