Bangladesh signs Airbus deal for Biman, cites business needs over EU pressure

Bangladesh held a signing ceremony for 10 Airbus aircraft for Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir said the purchase was driven solely by the country’s business needs, not to please EU ambassadors.

The country had agreed in September to buy 25 Boeing aircraft from the United States, while French Ambassador Jean‑Marc Séré‑Charlet said the Airbus purchase was important for a long‑term EU partnership, and Kobir called the ambassador a very good friend.
