IndiGo flight hit by lightning lands safely in Lucknow, nose damaged

IndiGo flight 6E925 from Patna to Lucknow was struck by lightning at about 17,000 feet during approach and landed safely at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport around 4 pm, eight minutes ahead of its scheduled arrival.

The lightning strike damaged the aircraft's nose radome, which was identified after landing; the plane was declared Aircraft on Ground and was grounded for technical inspection and repairs.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has opened an investigation into the incident.
