BAE Systems secures contract to produce AN/ASQ-239 EW suite for F‑35 Lots 20‑22

BAE Systems received a contract to manufacture and deliver the AN/ASQ-239 electronic warfare suite for F‑35 Lightning II Lots 20, 21 and 22, as well as for retrofit and modernization of aircraft already in service, with production concentrated in Austin, Texas, and in Manchester, Merrimack and Nashua, New Hampshire.

The company has delivered more than 1,500 AN/ASQ-239 units to date and the package value could exceed 1,200 million dollars; the suite integrates electronic warfare and countermeasures with the AESA AN/APG‑81 radar, EOTS and Distributed Aperture System, and includes the Digital Channelized Receiver/Techniques Generator and Tuner Insertion Program introduced in 2018 and a Non‑Intrusive Electronic Warfare Test Solution for self‑diagnosis.
