The families of David Rodríguez Ballesta and Javier Marañón Montero intend to hold a peaceful protest on 10 October in front of the Subdelegation of the Government in Granada, accusing the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs of ineffective consular assistance while their relatives remain imprisoned in Black Beach prison in Malabo.

Both men, private telecom employees linked to a company contracted for TDT deployment in Equatorial Guinea, have been held for more than 20 months since January 2025, and the families say negotiations for ransom money have not progressed, claiming they are being used as human hostages in an unrelated economic conflict.
