British Airways to retrofit A380 fleet with largest business class cabin

British Airways announced a fleet‑wide A380 refurbishment that will install more than 35,000 parts per aircraft, create an all‑business‑class upper deck and reduce overall seat count.
Program launch
The airline announced the retrofit on 5 October 2026 and said the first refurbished A380 will enter service in the coming months.
All twelve A380s in British Airways’ fleet will undergo the upgrade.
Cabin redesign
The overhaul will involve installation of more than 35,000 individual parts on each aircraft.
The upper deck will be dedicated to business class, offering 106 Club Suite seats divided into four cabin zones.
The main deck will retain twelve first‑class suites and include 84 seats in World Traveller Plus and 215 seats in World Traveller.
Seat count impact
After refurbishment the aircraft will have a total of 417 seats, a reduction of 52 seats or about 11 % compared with the current layout.
Economy class capacity will fall by roughly 30 % to 215 seats.
