Bomb threat halts Stuttgart Airport operations for 1.5 hours

A 24‑year‑old man threatened a bomb at Stuttgart Airport.
Security operation
The threat was made to an airport employee after the man passed security control. Police closed the security area and evacuated terminals, suspending flight traffic from 16:30 to 18:00, an interruption of roughly one and a half hours.
Impact on flights
Approximately thirty flights and about three thousand passengers were affected. Nine flights were cancelled, nine were diverted mainly via Nuremberg and Karlsruhe/Baden‑Baden, and eleven flights were delayed up to three hours.
Passenger handling
All passengers had to undergo a new security check after the security area was cleared, and flight operations returned to normal after a short time.
Legal action
The man was excluded from his flight to Hurghada, Egypt, and an investigation was opened for disturbing public peace by threatening crimes.
