- Oman pilot Hamam al‑Hammi attempted to seize and crash flydubai flight 1073 at Ben Gurion airport.
- He allegedly planned to kill co‑pilot Smith Matschar, continue the flight, obtain landing approvals and then crash the aircraft into a building or another aircraft; Matschar opened the cockpit door, a small group of Israeli passengers entered, immobilised and neutralised al‑Hammi, and two off‑service pilots subsequently took control of the aircraft.
- Al‑Hammi had visited Ben Gurion several times in recent months for flydubai flights to Israel, had planned the attack for July but cancelled it at the last moment because he was friends with a crew member, and Israeli investigators have not detained him while requesting the UAE expand the investigation to include the cabin crew.
