Coal India Ltd boosts power sector supply by 11% in Q2

Coal India Ltd (CIL) delivered 148.20 million tonnes of coal to the power sector in the second quarter of the current financial year, marking an 11.01% rise from 133.50 million tonnes in the same period a year earlier. The company also supplied 61.20 million tonnes in September, up 12.50% from 54.40 million tonnes in the prior fiscal's September.

During the first six months of the fiscal, CIL liquidated around 63 million tonnes of pithead coal stocks and now holds approximately 67 million tonnes at its pitheads. Coal production grew 9.18% to 53.50 million tonnes in September compared with 49 million tonnes a year earlier, and CIL has been assigned a production target of 815 million tonnes and a supply target of 850 million tonnes for the current fiscal.
