HDFC Bank has named long‑time ICICI Group veteran Anup Bagchi as its new managing director and chief executive. He will take over from Sashidhar Jagdishan on Oct 27, with the RBI approving a three‑year term.

Anup Bagchi will become managing director and chief executive of HDFC Bank on Oct 27, succeeding Sashidhar Jagdishan whose term ends on Oct 26. The Reserve Bank of India approved Bagchi’s appointment for a three‑year term starting Oct 27. Bagchi spent more than three decades at ICICI Group, holding senior roles including MD & CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and ICICI Securities. He helped develop ICICI Direct’s online trading platform and ICICI Bank’s internet banking platform.
