Helicopter evacuation amid Lez river flooding in Lattes, France
Marion Saunier, owner of the Lattes stables, was airlifted with her two daughters and another person on Wednesday afternoon as the Lez river flooded the area.1
The flood caused the Lez river to reach 7.50 meters, diverting water into the 4‑km long Lironde channel and sending debris downstream, while the flow rate at the downstream weir was 400 m³ per second, well below its centennial reference of 900 m³ per second, raising concerns for local transport and emergency response.1
