Boeing Secures Navy F/A-XX Fighter Jet Contract

Boeing Co. was awarded the contract to develop the Navy's next Top Gun fighter, designated F/A-XX, which will replace the F/A-18 Hornet, marking Boeing's second major fighter jet program win this year.1
The Navy has released limited details on the program, including overall development and procurement cost estimates, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Deputy Steve Feinberg had opposed the F/A-XX initiative last year; Congress subsequently provided hundreds of millions of dollars to allow the program to move forward.1
