The maximum permissible speed on the 111‑km Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra‑Banihal section was raised from 75 kmph to 100 kmph, and the Vande Bharat Express (train numbers 26401/26404) crossed both the world’s highest Chenab Railway Bridge and India’s first cable‑stayed Anji Khad Railway Bridge at the new speed. The Railway Ministry approved the speed enhancement after the required safety conditions were complied with by the Railways in August this year.1

The Chenab Railway Bridge, built over the Chenab River near Reasi, is recognised as the world’s highest railway bridge, while the Anji Khad Railway Bridge is the country’s first cable‑stayed railway bridge, both now traversed at 100 kmph under the updated limit.1
