Melbourne received up to 58 mm of rain in the first two days of October, amounting to almost a month’s worth of precipitation in less than 48 hours, and recorded its wettest October day in 16 years; about 7,000 homes lost power overnight and more than 270 calls were logged with the State Emergency Service for building damage, flooding and fallen trees.1,2
