Ebola outbreak in DRC kills over 4,000, health workers among victims

The Democratic Republic of the Congo confirmed an Ebola outbreak on May 15 caused by the rare Bundibugyo virus, with 4,018 deaths reported among 8,300 confirmed cases.1

More than 50 health workers have died after contracting the disease, and the World Health Organisation warned of rapid spread into new health zones, while a Congolese politician was killed defending government measures.1
