Philippines hosts China-ASEAN trade talks as partners aim to deepen integration

Philippine Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said China remains a major market and key trade partner for the Philippines and other ASEAN nations during a consultation between China’s Ministry of Commerce and ASEAN economic ministers held in Manila.1

The two sides agreed to build on existing achievements to advance economic integration, promote inclusive growth and strengthen trade and investment ties, while the China‑ASEAN Free Trade Agreement 3.0 is expected to improve supply‑chain connectivity; China and ASEAN have been each other’s largest trading partner for six consecutive years and bilateral trade exceeded US$1 trillion for the first time last year.1
