Thai Airways fires CEO amid flight delays and luggage backlog
Thai Airways dismissed its CEO Chai Eamsiri with immediate effect after operational problems that began on September 25, including widespread flight delays and a backlog of more than 10,000 luggage items and freight shipments, and the airline canceled 24 flights on October 1 and 2.1
The board of directors said the dismissals were due to the ongoing issues and announced a review of management structures and the use of subcontractors for ground and warehousing services, while a committee investigates allegations that Chai was involved in procuring 860,000 wine bottles worth over 800 million Baht.1
