Former lawmaker sued for assaulting security officer at Dhaka airport
A case was filed at the Airport Police Station against former lawmaker Major (retd) Akhtaruzzaman for allegedly assaulting on‑duty security supervisor Warrant Officer Mohammad Kamal Uddin at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:40 am near the baggage belt area. Akhtaruzzaman is reported to have threatened the airport Executive Director with statements such as “I will beat you” and “I will grab you by the neck and throw you out.”1
The incident occurred as passengers from a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Madinah experienced luggage delays due to heavy passenger pressure and a shortage of trolleys, creating a tense environment. The assault led to charges under several sections of the Penal Code, highlighting concerns over security personnel safety and passenger handling at the airport.1
