Petrobras raises average aviation fuel price 11.76% in Brazil

Petrobras increased the average price of aviation kerosene (QAV) from R$ 5,585 to R$ 6,242 per liter, a rise of 11.76% that takes effect on 1 October. The hike is linked to the war in the Middle East and instability in the Strait of Hormuz.

Petrobras adjusted the average price of aviation fuel (QAV) by 11.76% at its refineries.134 The new price of R$ 6,242 per liter replaces the September level of R$ 5,585 per liter.1234 The increase becomes effective on Thursday, 1 October.134 Petrobras attributes the rise to the war in the Middle East, which has disrupted oil‑derivatives logistics and caused instability in the Strait of Hormuz.1234 The current average price is 74% higher than on 1 March, when it was R$ 3,592 per liter, the day after US and Israeli attacks on Iran began.124 Aviation fuel accounts for about 30% of Brazilian airlines' operating expenses, so the price jump will significantly affect airline cost structures.2

Petroleum price adjustments for QAV are made on the first day of each month according to contract terms, indicating further monthly revisions are expected.2
