JAL and Nippon Express launch weekly 747F cargo service via Los Angeles
Japan Airlines and Nippon Express Holdings began a freight transit service using a Boeing 747F on October 1, operating a route that circles Los Angeles, Narita, Taipei and Singapore before returning to Los Angeles, with the inaugural departure scheduled for October 3. The aircraft can carry roughly 100 tons of cargo and will fly once a week for the remainder of the year. JAL also announced a code‑sharing agreement with Atlas Air for the Narita‑Los Angeles sector starting on October 2.1
The new service adds capacity to the trans‑Pacific cargo market, linking major Asian hubs with a high‑payload freighter that can support demand for bulk shipments, and the code‑share with Atlas Air may expand network reach for both carriers.1
