American and United add premium economy to Airbus A321XLR, others opt out

American Airlines and United Airlines are the only carriers that have installed premium‑economy sections on the Airbus A321XLR, which seats a total of 155 passengers with 20 business suites, 12 premium‑economy recliners and 123 economy seats.1
The aircraft is currently operated by six airlines, while Air Canada, Aer Lingus, Iberia and Qantas have chosen not to offer premium‑economy on the type; Qantas runs the highest‑density A321XLR with 200 seats, and the limited number of lavatories on the aircraft can cause long queues for economy travelers.1
