India urged to adopt integrated energy storage policy to boost resilience
S&P Global Energy’s Global Executive Director for Strategic Climate & Clean Energy Initiatives, Gauri Jauhar, called for India to adopt an integrated storage policy that links power and transport systems to improve energy resilience, citing the country's reliance on crude imports from 41 countries. The analyst highlighted that refined petroleum product exports provide foreign exchange earnings covering about 25% of the total spent on crude oil imports, acting as a vital buffer for the refining sector.1
The recommendation comes as India continues to expand renewable capacity, adding 55 gigawatts this year, while the National Green Hydrogen Mission initially focuses 70% of its efforts on exports and expects green hydrogen to gradually displace domestic oil use.1
