Russia extends diesel export ban and UK adds new sanctions on Russian ships

Russia will keep its ban on diesel exports in place until the end of October, while the United Kingdom has introduced a new sanctions package targeting Russian vessels and related entities. The Russian government has extended its ban on diesel exports until the end of October.1 The UK announced a new sanctions package of 31 measures that includes commercial and maritime sanctions against eight Russian ships.34 The UK sanctions also target 23 individuals and organisations linked to abuses against Ukrainian civilians and disinformation campaigns.4 Higher diesel prices and restricted export may increase aviation fuel costs for airlines operating from major airports such as London Heathrow and Moscow Sheremetyevo.1 Sanctions on Russian ships could limit the availability of maritime fuel transport, potentially affecting fuel supply chains to airports in Europe and Russia.34
