Belgian and French police arrest 21 in Brussels Airport drug smuggling case

Belgian and French authorities arrested 21 people they say were part of an international drug network that used Brussels Airport to smuggle cocaine and cannabis, with 19 arrests made in Belgium and two in France on September 30, 2026.1

Investigations that began in February 2025 were triggered by the discovery of about 30 kilograms of cocaine linked to Cancún, and prosecutors allege the network bought cheap flight tickets to access the baggage hall and collect drug‑filled suitcases while also recruiting airport staff.1
