Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv diverted after cockpit assault
On September 30 a Flydubai Boeing 737 MAX 8 operating flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv experienced a security incident when the co‑pilot attacked the captain in the cockpit, causing a rapid descent. The captain, though injured, opened the cockpit door and passengers and crew restrained the co‑pilot before a replacement crew took over and landed the aircraft safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia with 170 people on board.1
The incident is under investigation and highlights ongoing security concerns for civilian aircraft, recalling Israel’s history of facing plots such as a 2002 missile attack on a plane in Kenya.1
