Travel coalition urges EU to back voluntary biometric use in travel

A new coalition comprising Aci Europe, Amadeus, Iata, Idemia Public Security and Sita has been formed to promote responsible biometric use in travel and is calling on the EU to ensure the Digital Omnibus supports voluntary and secure biometric applications.1
The coalition’s manifesto seeks to preserve passenger choice, enable citizens to benefit from biometric opportunities, and foster public‑private dialogue to address growing passenger volumes and limited airport capacity, while the Digital Omnibus aims to simplify the European digital code, support innovation and maintain high data protection and cybersecurity standards.1
