Vedanta Copper Announces $2.3 Billion Capex Plan and Tamil Nadu Smelter Restart

Vedanta Copper said it will invest $2.3 billion over the next three to four years and plans to restart its smelter on the Tamil Nadu coast after more than eight years of shutdown.1

The company currently produces 100,000 tonnes of copper in Fujairah, UAE, and aims to lift total output beyond 1 million tonnes by the end of the decade with 500,000 tonnes each from new operations in India and Saudi Arabia, while roughly $2 billion of the spend will fund integrated facilities in Saudi Arabia.1
