Romanian discount carrier Anima Wings seeks court reorganisation as fleet is repossessed

Anima Wings, a Romanian low‑cost airline, has filed for a court‑ordered reorganisation procedure after suspending several flights at the end of September due to financial strain and fleet problems. The carrier’s leasing firms have reclaimed all eight aircraft, which previously comprised six Airbus A220‑300s and two Airbus A320s. The airline reports a 2023 loss of 7.4 billion HUF and total debt that has risen to 11 billion HUF, having recorded only one profitable year in its six‑year existence.1

The loss of its entire fleet leaves Anima Wings unable to operate scheduled services, intensifying its cash‑flow challenges and raising doubts about its ability to resume operations without significant restructuring or new financing. The reorganisation filing signals a formal attempt to address the mounting liabilities and potentially preserve the airline’s business model.1
