Bolivia Ends Aviation Gasoline Subsidy and Allows Free Imports
Bolivia removed the state subsidy for aviation gasoline (grade 100) through Supreme Decree 5,729, a move announced by the government of Rodrigo Paz as part of a broader economic adjustment that also eliminates subsidies for gasoline and diesel.1
The decree permits free import of aviation gasoline, enabling multiple companies to supply airports, and the fuel is primarily used for small‑plane transport in the northern departments of Santa Cruz, Beni and Pando; the policy shift follows a decline in domestic fuel production that has led Bolivia to import about 90% of its diesel and 56% of its gasoline.1
